Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into even rounds, then boil them in salted water for 10-15 minutes until fork-tender.
  3. In a greased baking dish, arrange half of the cooked sweet potato slices in an overlapping layer.
  4. Sprinkle half of the fresh cranberries over the sweet potatoes.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Pour half over the layers.
  6. Layer the remaining sweet potato slices, followed by the remaining cranberries and the rest of the creamy mixture.
  7. Sprinkle the Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs over the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
