  • 1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix or any chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Water or milk for richness
  • 1/2 cup Oil vegetable or canola oil is best
For the Soaking Mixture
  • 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk evaporated milk can be used but less sweet
For the Layers
  • 3 cups Whipped Cream store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Caramel Syrup store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Heath English Toffee Bits can substitute with crushed toffee
For the Topping
  • 1 bar Crushed Heath Bar can swap with other crunchy chocolate bars

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, water, and oil. Mix until smooth and pour into greased baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  2. Cut the cooled cake into bite-sized squares. Place in a dish and pour sweetened condensed milk over the cake. Let absorb for 5-10 minutes.
  3. In a trifle bowl, layer one-third of soaked cake pieces, then one-third of whipped cream, one-third of caramel syrup, and toffee bits. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Crush the Heath bar and sprinkle over the final layer of whipped cream.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Serve chilled, scooping out portions with a large spoon to capture all layers.
