Preparation
- Slice 1 pound of beef sirloin or flank steak thinly against the grain, about ¼ inch thick.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together ½ cup of soy sauce, ¼ cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, 2 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well-coated, then cover with plastic wrap. Allow to marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour any leftover marinade into the skillet, bring to a gentle simmer and cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently until sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat, transfer beef to plates, drizzle with thickened teriyaki sauce, and serve over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with green onions.
