Ingredients
  

For the Patties
  • 1 pound Ground Beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs or crushed crackers for gluten-free
  • 1 large Egg acts as binder
  • 1 medium Onion (minced) yellow or sweet onions preferred
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce can substitute with soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder or fresh minced garlic
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Gravy
  • 1 tablespoon Oil any cooking oil with high smoke point
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped) for flavor
  • 8 ounces Mushrooms (sliced) can substitute with sautéed bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour can use cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 2 cups Beef Broth low-sodium preferred
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder optional but recommended
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped) for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into four oval patties.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet. Sear beef patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Remove and keep warm.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté chopped onion for 4-5 minutes until translucent. Add sliced mushrooms, cook for 5-7 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Sprinkle flour over onions and mushrooms, stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth while scraping the skillet. Add Worcestershire sauce and onion powder, simmer until thickened (3-4 minutes).
  5. Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over them. Cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes until patties reach 165°F.
  6. Adjust gravy seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice.
