  • 1 cup Milk warm to 110°F
  • 2 teaspoons Active dry yeast ensure freshness
  • 2 Large eggs room temperature
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour spoon and level

  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter room temperature
For the Filling
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon adjust to taste
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream or milk for lighter version
  • 2 teaspoons Pure vanilla extract avoid imitation
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch optional
  • 1 cup Chopped pecans can substitute with walnuts

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Warm the milk to 110°F and sprinkle the active dry yeast on top. Stir and let sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift the flour, then whisk in the sugar and salt. Mix in the cubed butter until it resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  3. Combine the eggs and the yeast mixture, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Alternatively, use a stand mixer.
  5. Grease a large bowl, place the dough inside, cover and let rise for about 1 hour or refrigerate overnight.
  6. Mix together softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
  7. For the topping, beat melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add maple syrup, cream, vanilla, salt, and cornstarch.
  8. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling, roll up, and cut into six pieces.
  9. Place pieces in a greased pan and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for about 28-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving board and serve warm.
