  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
For the Topping
  • 4 large Eggs Note: Sprinkle eggs on top in the last 10 minutes for perfect results.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Gradually whisk in ¼ cup of flour and stir for about 2 minutes.
  3. Slowly add 2 cups of milk while whisking, cook for 5-7 minutes until smooth, and season with nutmeg and Dijon mustard.
  4. Cut brioche into cubes and layer half in the baking dish, followed by turkey ham and half of the Gruyère cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Pour the béchamel sauce generously over the layers and cover completely.
  6. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight for best flavor or bake immediately for 30 minutes.
  7. In the last 10 minutes of baking, crack 4 eggs on top of the casserole and bake until set to your liking.
  8. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving and enjoy!

Notes

Using slightly stale bread is preferred to avoid a soggy casserole. For richer sauce, beat in 4 eggs and ½ cup of heavy cream into the béchamel.
