Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Flatten chicken breasts using a meat mallet to about 1/2 inch thick. Season with salt and pepper.
- Set up a breading station with beaten eggs mixed with milk, flour, and seasoned breadcrumbs. Dip chicken in egg, coat with flour, then press into breadcrumbs.
- Place breaded chicken on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and juices run clear.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour, then add milk gradually. Stir until thickened, then mix in Dijon mustard.
- Slice bread and spread salted butter on the outside. Layer ham, Swiss cheese, and baked chicken on one slice, pouring creamy sauce over the top before covering with another slice.
- Heat a skillet or panini maker to medium heat. Grill the sandwich for 6-8 minutes until bread is golden and cheese melts.
- Remove from the skillet, cut in half, and serve hot with any remaining sauce drizzled on top.
