Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, placing a baking rack on top.
- Combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and optional red pepper flakes in a bowl until the sugar dissolves.
- Coat the bacon slices with the sugar mixture on both sides using a brush or spoon.
- Place the bacon rack in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Flip and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
- Remove the bacon from the oven and place on a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
- Slice the baguette into ½-inch thick pieces and arrange on a baking sheet.
- Brush each baguette slice with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper; bake at 425°F (220°C) for 7-10 minutes.
- On a serving platter, place the goat cheese log and press the cooled bacon chunks into the surface.
- Drizzle honey, maple syrup, or hot honey over the cheese and serve with crostini.
