Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, placing a baking rack on top.
  2. Combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and optional red pepper flakes in a bowl until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Coat the bacon slices with the sugar mixture on both sides using a brush or spoon.
  4. Place the bacon rack in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Flip and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
  5. Remove the bacon from the oven and place on a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
  6. Slice the baguette into ½-inch thick pieces and arrange on a baking sheet.
  7. Brush each baguette slice with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper; bake at 425°F (220°C) for 7-10 minutes.
  8. On a serving platter, place the goat cheese log and press the cooled bacon chunks into the surface.
  9. Drizzle honey, maple syrup, or hot honey over the cheese and serve with crostini.
