Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Warm Milk any milk alternative works well
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 0.5 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 large Egg can replace with flax egg (1 tbsp flaxseed meal + 3 tbsp water)
Filling
  • 0.5 cups Brown Sugar coconut sugar can be used as a substitute
  • 2 tablespoons Ground Cinnamon opt for Saigon cinnamon for bolder flavor
Glaze
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar using cornstarch variants prevents clumping
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract optional for added sweetness

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast, ½ cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup of warm milk and ¼ cup of melted unsalted butter, mixing until combined.
  3. Add 1 beaten egg and knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
  1. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
  2. Allow it to rise in a warm area for 1 to 2 hours, until it has doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix together ½ cup of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon.
  2. Set it aside for later use.
Rolling the Dough
  1. After the first rise, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle approximately 16x12 inches.
  2. Spread ¼ cup of softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar filling.
Shaping Rolls
  1. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape and pinch the seam to seal.
  2. Slice it into 1 to 2-inch pieces and arrange them in a greased baking pan.
Second Rise
  1. Cover the sliced rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 to 45 minutes, or until puffy.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Glaze Preparation
  1. Mix together 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a bowl.
  2. Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls.
