Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast, ½ cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually add 1 cup of warm milk and ¼ cup of melted unsalted butter, mixing until combined.
- Add 1 beaten egg and knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
- Allow it to rise in a warm area for 1 to 2 hours, until it has doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- In a small bowl, mix together ½ cup of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon.
- Set it aside for later use.
Rolling the Dough
- After the first rise, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle approximately 16x12 inches.
- Spread ¼ cup of softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar filling.
Shaping Rolls
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape and pinch the seam to seal.
- Slice it into 1 to 2-inch pieces and arrange them in a greased baking pan.
Second Rise
- Cover the sliced rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 to 45 minutes, or until puffy.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Glaze Preparation
- Mix together 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a bowl.
- Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls.
