Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 12x17-inch rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture and mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt, then blend with the wet ingredients.
  5. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15-17 minutes until the edges are golden and the center is set.
  7. Cool the cookie base completely on a wire rack before frosting.
  8. Prepare the frosting by beating the butter until smooth and adding milk, almond extract, and food coloring.
  9. Add the sifted powdered sugar to the butter mixture and beat until smooth.
  10. Frost the cooled cookie slab evenly and sprinkle with festive sprinkles.
  11. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, then slice into 36-40 bars.
