Step-by-Step Instructions for Cowboy Butter
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of lemon zest, 4-5 pressed garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon each of minced fresh parsley and chives, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, and 3/4 teaspoon of kosher salt. Also, add 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper for that spicy cowboy flair.
  2. Using a fork or a stand mixer, blend the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and well combined. This should take about 2-3 minutes of mixing.
  3. Once thoroughly mixed, you can either transfer the Cowboy Butter into an airtight container for storage or shape it into a log using parchment paper.
  4. Place your container or wrapped butter log in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 1 hour to meld the flavors.
  5. After chilling, take it out and slice it into rounds for easy serving.
