Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add squid ink pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Add halved cherry tomatoes, white wine (or lemon juice), and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  6. Add drained pasta to the skillet along with butter, lemon zest and juice, and reserved pasta water. Toss to combine.
  7. Stir in basil and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve immediately.
