  • 2 cups dark cherries fresh or frozen, pitted
  • 0.5 cups water adjust for texture
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • to taste maple syrup / honey / no-sugar sweetener optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash the cherries under cool running water and pit them to remove the stones. If using frozen cherries, let them thaw slightly.
  2. In a blender, combine cherries with enough water to create a smooth mixture. Add lemon juice and blend until silky.
  3. Taste the mixture; add optional sweetener if needed and blend again.
  4. Pour the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container, filling to the designated line and freeze for at least 24 hours.
  5. Process in the Ninja Creami using the “Sorbet” function until creamy.
  6. Check the consistency; if crumbly, run the “Mix-In” function or repeat the “Sorbet” cycle.
  7. Scoop the sorbet into bowls and serve immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
