  • 1 teaspoon Salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper freshly ground is best
For the Coating
  • 3 cups Soft Pretzels (crushed) can substitute with crushed crackers
For the Mustard-Cheddar Sauce
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream can use lower-fat option
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard adjust for milder/stronger taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder freshly minced garlic can also be used
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese try different cheese varieties
  • 2 tablespoons Butter optional, for roux

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Crush the soft pretzels in a food processor or ziplock bag until you have a coarse crumb texture.
  3. Season the boneless chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and shredded cheddar cheese over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
  5. Coat each seasoned chicken breast in the crushed pretzels, pressing down gently, and place them in the baking dish.
  6. Bake the coated chicken for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and drizzle with mustard-cheddar sauce before serving.
