Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Boil the pasta by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain and reserve 1 cup of cooking water.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in tomato paste into the garlic for 30 seconds, then add tomato sauce and heavy cream, mixing until smooth. Add Italian seasoning.
  4. Lower heat and let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar if necessary.
  5. Toss the drained pasta into the sauce, mixing well. If needed, add reserved pasta water for desired consistency.
  6. Serve warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
