  • 8 ounces Brie Cheese Camembert is a good substitute if unavailable.

Equipment

  • saucepan
  • baking sheet
  • Oven

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine dried cranberries, balsamic vinegar, jellied cranberry sauce, and sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture bubbles and thickens, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the French bread into ½-inch thick pieces. Brush each slice with melted butter and toast in the oven for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy.
  3. Place a slice of brie cheese on each toasted bread piece and spoon cranberry compote over the cheese, layering for a beautiful presentation.
  4. Return the assembled crostini to the oven and bake for another 4-6 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly. Remove and let cool slightly.
  5. Serve the warm crostini on a platter, best enjoyed fresh with your favorite holiday beverages.

Notes

Make ahead the compote a day prior and reheat briefly before assembling. Toast bread until golden to prevent over-crisping during baking. Serving warm is ideal for preserving gooey cheese texture.
