Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a deep non-stick pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-low heat. Once melted, add 2 chopped shallots and 2 diced green bell peppers to the pan. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, 1 teaspoon of celery salt, 1 teaspoon of garlic & herb seasoning, and 2 teaspoons of dried parsley. Cook for an additional minute.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add 1 pound of ground beef to the pan. Brown the beef for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
- Stir in 1½ cups of orzo pasta, mixing thoroughly, and let toast for about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in 2 tablespoons of tomato purée and 3⅓ cups of beef broth. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and cover. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and stir in 3 tablespoons of grated cheddar cheese until melted.
- Serve the Cajun Dirty Orzo in bowls, garnished with fresh thyme and sliced red jalapeños.
